Registration and Pack Dues
When compared to the cost of sports and many other activities, there is no doubt that Scouting delivers great value to its members! The cost of the registration fee for joining Scouting is $48.00 annually, which includes a Boy’s Life magazine subscription. In addition to the registration fee, there is an annual activity fee of $40.00, that is charged by Cub Scout Pack 499. Of course, these costs may be offset by unit fundraising and other available scholarship funds.
Paying for registration and pack dues
Your initial prorated dues are to be paid directly to the Longhorn Council with your application(s).
Annual payments are due to Pack 499 by November 15th of each year. We have several options by which you can pay:
1. You can pay $88 by cash in person
2. You can pay $91 by credit card in person or via the website
3. Your scout can work (2) 2-hour fundraiser shifts prior to November 15th of each year.
Cub Scout Uniforms may be purchased at the local Scout Shop. The initial cost for scout shirt, patches, cap, belt, neckerchief, and the handbook is usually around $100.00. There is no requirement to purchase a uniform before enjoying scouts. Fundraiser and scholarship funds may be used to cover or offset the cost.
Recreational family campouts are usually $20 per person, to cover the cost of food (Friday night dinner, 3 meals Saturday, and Sunday breakfast).
Longhorn Council camping events have various per person cost depending on the event.
Camping costs are not included in the dues, but are paid on a per participant basis. This expense is also eligible to be covered by fundraising.
